Senior Class


The  14-18 students in our Senior Class enjoy a skills(listening,gross and fine motor , independent thinking and performance, academic, social and emotional)based class.  Using developmentally appropriate activities the children explore a program called "Living the Alphabet". Our certified teacher and teacher's assistant introduce a new letter of the alphabet each week and plan all activities in sync with that letter.  Activities for the "letter of the week" are derived from all curriculum areas including:

Art:  collage painting, gluing, abstract and directed art projects, dough, sculptures, texture and color.

Language Arts: primary and secondary colors, sight words, letters A-Z, phonics, days of the week, initials, "All About Me", name recognition, rhyming, opposites, journals, creative dramatics, Show 'n Tell

Math: patterns, left to right progression, shapes, numbers 1-20+, grouping,graphs, money, sets, measurement, quantity, size comparison, one to one counting

Science:  magnets, animals, seasons, insects, dinosaurs, flowers, planting, solar system, ice, creative cooking, seas, seeds, senses, stars, shadows, nutrition, weather

Music/Movement: instruments, rhythms, free and directed movement, dance, exercise, aerobics, finger plays, sing a long

Social Studies:  families, Native Americans, patriotism, vacations, travel, maps, partners, American history and traditions, friends

Seasonal Activities:  Columbus Day,Halloween, Election Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, December holidays, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day,  President's Day, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Flag Day, Graduation

Senior Class children are encouraged to participate in group and individual activities, story time, free play and outside play.
